The legal troubles of breakout star Miles Bridges loom large over the 2022-23 Charlotte Hornets season. He faces felony charges and could receive jail time which clearly sets the Hornets back entering the season.<\/p>\n

The Hornets will need LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier to pick up the scoring slack. After a 43-38 regular season, the Hornets were eliminated in a 132-103 play-in game loss to the Atlanta Hawks. It was the second straight season it took only one play-in game loss to finish the Hornets’ season.<\/p>\n

The big offseason news outside of Bridges is the loss of Montrezl Harrel to free agency and the addition of 15th overall pick, center Mark Williams. If things break right the Hornets could be a playoff team, but it will be an uphill battle and if they don’t stay healthy all bets are off.<\/p>\n

The potential loss of Miles Bridges can’t be understated, especially from a scoring perspective. He averaged 20.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists while providing strong defense.<\/p>\n

LaMelo Ball is ready to move up a level as a scorer and his usage will be through the roof. However the ranks run thin after him as Terry Rozier is inconsistent and Gordon Hayward can’t stay healthy. The Hornets were one of the healthiest teams last season as far as top players but still only won 43 games.<\/p>\n

Charlotte had a reputation for playing poor defense last season and their peers in Eastern Conference have only improved. Teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks have made significant improvements to their rosters.<\/p>\n

The deck is stacked against Charlotte without Bridges in a loaded Eastern Conference. I’m backing the Hornets’ regular season win total under<\/strong> with the utmost confidence and I’m making mental notes to be looking towards LaMelo Ball on player prop overs.
