The Brooklyn Nets entered last season as one of the favorites to lift the trophy, but in a year filled with turmoil, needed some luck to even make the playoffs where they were embarrassingly swept by the Boston Celtics.<\/p>\n
Irving and Durant were both rumored to be on the chopping block, but both will start the year in Brooklyn, along with key acquisition Ben Simmons. The former 76er joined the Nets last season but did not take the court.<\/p>\n
Brooklyn did not have any picks in the 2022 NBA Draft, choosing to ship those options to other teams to acquire the already-established pieces that they have on their roster.<\/p>\n
Brooklyn Nets Offseason Acquisitions<\/h3>\n
The Nets acquired Ben Simmons during last season, but he didn\u2019t play at all so he might as well count for an offseason transaction. We have no idea how he, Irving and Durant will gel together on the court. Will all three play at once? Are Simmons\u2019 days as a point guard over? Only time will tell, but this team definitely has the talent to make it far in the playoffs.<\/p>\n
The team bolstered its defense by acquiring Royce O\u2019Neale from the Jazz for a first round pick, as well as signing veterans T.J. Warren and Markieff Morris.<\/p>\n
Warren will likely start the season on the injured list but he has said his foot is fully healed but hasn\u2019t started basketball activities yet. Seth Curry is also recovering from an injury and seems more likely to start the season healthy and ready to go.<\/p>\n
Brooklyn Nets Projected Starting Five<\/h3>\n
The Nets will look to start the season with Durant, Irving and Simmons all in the starting lineup with Simmons taking on more of a defensive role than a ball-controlling point guard he was used to playing in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn Nets Betting Outlook<\/h3>\n
As long as Simmons adapts to his role off the ball, pressure should be removed from his shoulders, making him a more effective player overall. As long as he, Irving and Durant can all stay healthy, the Nets should finish as a top-5 seed in the Eastern Conference, although all three have had injury concerns throughout their respective careers.<\/p>\n
