In fact, only four players have more than one other President’s Cup appearance, although for Team USA, there are a few with Ryder Cup experience as well.

It’s clear why the bookmakers have instilled the Americans as heavy favorites this week. The average OWGR (Official World Golf Ranking) of the 12 players on Team USA is 11.6 compared to the International Team at an average of 48.9. LIV has robbed the Internationals of several high-ranking players including [#3] Cam Smith, [#21] Joaquin Niemann and [#24] Abraham Ancer.

The only player missing for Team USA is [#23] Dustin Johnson, although he wouldn’t have even been in the mix if [#8] Will Zalatoris wasn’t injured, which only highlights how strong this American squad is.

Quail Hollow

Quail Hollow is host to the Wells Fargo Championship every year so most of the guys have plenty of experience on the course. However, those holes have been re-routed this week to play as holes 13, 14 and 15 to all but guarantee they will come into play for every match.

If the Wells Fargo Championship has taught us anything, it’s that Quail Hollow is a difficult track with an averaging winning score of just 10-under par over the last six tournaments. With only five matches on Thursday and Friday, variance to the unexpected could certainly trip the Americans up and cost them in terms of “winning the day” whereas being able to play a longer sample size of 12 matches on Sunday, should see the better American team win more than they lose, regardless of the situation heading into Sunday.

Whether the Presidents Cup hangs in the balance heading into the singles matches or Team USA has already locked it up, there may only be one or two possible match pairings that would see the Internationals favored in any single match.
