Borussia Dortmund vs Hoffenheim Analysis<\/h3>\n

A solid three wins from their opening four games of the season for Borussia Dortmund was marred two weeks ago by an astonishing late-game collapse against Werder Bremen, with Dortmund becoming the first team in Bundesliga history to allow three or more goals past the 89th-minute mark of a match.<\/p>\n

That was Dortmund\u2019s last home game and they\u2019ll certainly be hoping lightning doesn\u2019t strike twice here at Signal Iduna Park on Friday as they host a Hoffenheim side who sit level with them in the table right now enjoying their second-best start to a Bundesliga campaign in their history.<\/p>\n

Hoffenheim Looking Towards Defense To Find Success<\/h3>\n

After allowing five goals over their opening two games of the season, new Hoffenheim manager Andre Brietenreiter was quick to place more emphasis on defense over his last two games, shutting out both Bayer Leverkusen and Augsburg in successive games.<\/p>\n

That Augsburg performance restricted the \u2018Fuggerstadters\u2019 to just one shot on target over the entire 90 minutes of the match, with Hoffenheim allowing an average of just 0.78 xGA across those two games as well.<\/p>\n

Dortmund Looking More Measured At The Back<\/h3>\n

After that incredible collapse against Werder Bremen two weeks ago, Dortmund manager Edin Terzic was quick to point out he wanted his side to focus on closing out games against opponents when given the chance.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s something they managed to do last weekend against Hertha Berlin, averaging 62-percent possession against the capital club and keeping them quiet with just three shots on goal total over the duration of the match.<\/p>\n

Borussia Dortmund vs Hoffenheim Prediction<\/h2>\n

With both teams placing far more of an emphasis on defense right now, we believe this total is set far too high here, likely due to historical reasons as this fixture has provided so many goals over seasons past.<\/p>\n

But that isn\u2019t where we are now and Dortmund certainly won\u2019t want to tempt fate by opening up against Hoffenheim here, especially after what happened to them the last time they played at home.<\/p>\n

Hoffenheim is also focusing on restricting opponent attacks of late, so we see a lower-scoring game playing out here on Friday<\/p>\n
