Crvena Zvezda vs Maccabi Haifa Analysis<\/h3>\n

In a pulsating first-leg affair in Israel last week, Maccabi Haifa now travel over to Serbia holding a one-goal advantage heading into Tuesday’s second leg against Crvena Zvezda, with the opportunity to qualify for the Champions League proper the prize on the line for both teams in this one.<\/p>\n

Maccabi Haifa started the brighter of the two teams last week with Frantzdy Pierrot scoring the opening goal after just 18 minutes as the Israeli champions poured on the pressure early.<\/p>\n

However, Crvena Zvezda responded emphatically, scoring two goals of their own before the break to set up a blistering second half which saw Maccabi Haifa go all out for the win, something they achieved shortly after half-time with goals from Pierrot again and Tjarron Chery to head to Belgrade on Tuesday knowing a draw will be enough here to see them advance.<\/p>\n

Tuesday’s matchup mark\u2019s the two sides’ second only meeting in European competition after last week\u2019s 3-2 battle.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been 12 long years since Maccabi Haifa last graced the group stage of a Champions League and Maccabi Haifa will be hoping they can end that drought here on Tuesday against Crvena Zvezda.<\/p>\n

However, it might be a task easier said than done as Maccabi Haifa have only won one of their previous five road games in all, but did show what they’re capable of in that solitary win at least, blowing out Greek champions Olympiacos 4-0 in Athens late last month.<\/p>\n

After two consecutive seasons in the Europa League, the Serbian side are finally looking to enter the big dance and with home support firmly behind them in this one, we\u2019re expecting a best effort from Crvena Zvezda here on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s no surprise to see the home side go in as favorites here as they\u2019ve shown what a complete team they have been in Serbia over the last few years, beating Olympiacos, FC Koln and Liverpool here at this venue over recent seasons.<\/p>\n

We believe that continues here on Tuesday as well as omitting last week\u2019s loss in Israel and club friendlies, Crvena Zvezda\u2019s only defeat at the Stadion Rajko Mitic came against Danish side FC Midtjylland all the way back in November of last year, a run that exemplifies exactly how strong the home side are in Serbia.<\/p>\n

Belgrade should provide a hostile atmosphere here on Tuesday and with Crvena Zvezda\u2019s incredible home form mixed in as well (W20, D3, L0) since last November, we like the home side to win outright here on Tuesday and potentially progress through to the competition proper at the expense of Maccabi Haifa.<\/p>\n
