Cleveland Guardians vs Detroit Tigers Analysis<\/h2>\n

The Detroit Tigers look to steal this four game series from the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field on Wednesday night. The Guardians won the first game 4-1, however it’s been all Detroit since then with victories of 7-5 and 4-3.<\/p>\n

The Guardians still occupy first place in the American League Central with a one game lead over the Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox. The journeyman Daniel Norris will toe the rubber for Detroit, while the young righty Cal Quantrill gets the nod for Cleveland. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM EST\/4:10 PST.<\/p>\n

Guardians of the Central<\/h3>\n

The Cleveland Guardians need to right the ship after losing two straight games to the Detroit Tigers, including a frustrating 4-3 loss yesterday. Zach Plesac got knocked around for four runs on nine hits across only 5.1 innings of work.<\/p>\n

Leadoff man Steven Kwan went 3 for 4 with a run scored and Jose Ramirez drove in two runs. At 62-55 the Guardians still have a one game lead in their division despite the last two losses. Cleveland has prevailed in 10 of 15 games in August to leapfrog the Twins.<\/p>\n

The Guardians lineup relies heavily on Jose Ramirez who is batting .281 with 22 homeruns and 96 RBI. Cal Quantrill will be tasked with turning the tides for Cleveland on Wednesday evening. Quantrill is 9-5 with a 3.67 ERA and 1.22 WHIP on the season.<\/p>\n

His starts against Detroit have been night and day. He gave up six runs (three earned) on 8 hits in only four innings in Detroit, but hurled six scoreless innings in his next head-to-head meeting at home.<\/p>\n

Rare Two Game Win Streak For Tigers<\/h3>\n

The Detroit Tigers aren’t accustomed to many winning streaks this season considering their 45-74 record. However they did prevail yesterday with a 4-3 victory in Cleveland. Garrett Hill tossed six innings while allowing only one run on four hits with two walks.<\/p>\n

Gregory Soto picked up his 22nd save of the season. Harold Castro went 3 for 5 with two doubles and two RBI. This Tigers lineup is one of the worst in the game as they rank dead last in runs scored with only 3.19 per game.<\/p>\n

With only five hitters with over 100 total bases, the lineup has become one that is easy to navigate. Reliever turned starter Daniel Norris gets the start for Detroit on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

He pitched out of the bullpen with the Cubs and made his first start with Detroit on Friday evening. The southpaw held the White Sox to 4.2 scoreless innings in that outing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Cleveland Guardians vs Detroit Tigers Prediction<\/h2>\n

The Cleveland Guardians are heavily favored in this one with a money line set at -210, while the Detroit Tigers sit at +180 with a total of 7.5.<\/p>\n

The Guardians have now lost two straight games to a bottom feeder while they are currently immersed in a three team race for the American League Central.<\/p>\n

The Tigers are still the second worst team in the league with the leagues worst offensive attack. Due to injuries, they are being forced to start a relief pitcher once again. Norris can’t be expected to pitch very deep into this contest which will expose a struggling bullpen for far too many innings.<\/p>\n

While Quantrill isn’t dominant, he has proven the ability to keep a lid on this lackluster lineup at home. Cleveland has actually won each of his last seven starts, including five run line covers. That is the direction we will take in this one as the Guardians run line is priced at -105.<\/p>\n
