Sheffield United vs Sunderland Analysis<\/h3>\n

Sunderland almost made it two wins from two on Saturday before giving up two goals over the final three minutes of action, including a bizarre header by the QPR goalkeeper, to squander what looked like a certain three points at home for them in the Stadium of Light.<\/p>\n

Sheffield United has won two of the last three head-to-heads against Sunderland at Bramall Lane, but that one loss did come in their last encounter here in the EFL Cup back in 2019.<\/p>\n

Alex Neil Impressed By Early Momentum<\/h3>\n

Last season\u2019s League One playoff winner Sunderland has impressed to start their 2022-23 Championship campaign, taking points from each of their opening three fixtures.<\/p>\n

No one has been more impressed than manager Alex Neil however, with the Scotsman hailing Sunderland\u2019s 3-2 road win away against Bristol City back in Match Day 2 as \u201cbrilliant\u201d and he\u2019ll no doubt be hoping for more of the same here on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Sheffield United Far From \u2018Sharp\u2019<\/h3>\n

Sheffield United\u2019s top scorer from last season, Billy Sharp, picked up what looked like an ankle injury in Sunday\u2019s matchup against Middlesbrough, so it\u2019s unlikely he\u2019ll be fit enough to play in this one.<\/p>\n

Sharp bagged 14 goals for the Blades last season, along with seven assists, so his absence will be a huge blow for Paul Heckingbottom\u2019s side heading into this one.<\/p>\n

Sheffield United vs Sunderland Prediction<\/h2>\n

Sunderland has made a solid start to their Championship campaign so far, but arguably face their toughest test of the season to date in going to Bramall Lane and looking to carve out a result here on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Only two teams had more wins at home than Sheffield United managed last season, and the Blades owned the league’s second-best goal differential as well, behind promoted Premier League side Fulham.<\/p>\n

Sheffield United\u2019s only win of the season so far came coincidentally in what was their only home game of the year as well, a 2-0 win against Millwall back in Match Day 2, as they continue to show why Sheffield is such a tough place to come and try and get a result.<\/p>\n
