Nantes vs Lille Analysis<\/h3>\n

The 2020-21 French Ligue One champions, Lille, look to build off a 4-1 demolition of Auxerre last week with another win on the road against Nantes on Friday.<\/p>\n

Nantes, for their part, had a very evenly-contested game against Angers last Sunday in the always-competitive Derby de l\u2019ouest, ending in a 1-1 draw which was a fair result for both teams.<\/p>\n

Lille has a fantastic record in the Stade de la Beaujoire, not having lost to Nantes in this venue since 2004, with wins in each of the last four head-to-heads here as well.<\/p>\n

Lille Back To Business<\/h3>\n

After enduring an incredibly tough season last year as defending champions, one in which Lille had the dubious honor of finishing in the second-lowest position as defending champions since the turn of the century in Ligue One, it\u2019s now back to business for the former champs.<\/p>\n

New coach Pablo Fonseca has focused on a much greater level of intensity in games to start the season and that showed to full effect last week with Lille scoring after just 36 seconds against Auxerre, their second-fastest goal in club history.<\/p>\n

Nantes Needs A Solution In Front Of Goal<\/h3>\n

Nantes top scorer from last season, Randal Kolo Muani, left for Europa League champions Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer and Nantes has had a difficult time replacing him.<\/p>\n

Three-straight games now without a goal and failing to even muster a single shot on target in the first half of last week\u2019s game against Angers has seen fans call for an immediate solution to the team’s offensive woes.<\/p>\n

Nantes vs Lille Prediction<\/h3>\n

With Nantes having such huge problems in front of goal to start the season, along with their incredibly poor record at home against Lille over seasons past, it’s difficult to suggest making a wager on Nantes to either win this game outright or take the handicap on them against Lille in this game.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, however, I do expect Nantes to be competitive in this one and really like the value on the outright draw at +230<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Nantes owned the league\u2019s sixth-best defense at home last season and outside of friendlies, has lost just one game at home going all the way back to December, a loss that coincidentally came against this very same Lille side.<\/p>\n

That was a game Nantes was more than competitive in, however, having more possession, attacks, and dangerous attacks than Lille in that one, and we believe they can hang tough in this one as well.<\/p>\n

Take the outright draw at +230 in the French Ligue One matchup between Lille and Nantes on Friday night.<\/p>\n
