Newcastle vs Nottingham Forest Analysis<\/h3>\n

Nottingham Forest will start their first Premier League game in 23 years on Saturday with a tricky trip up to the North-East to face Newcastle.<\/p>\n

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper worked absolute wonders with this team last year, taking them from the bottom of the Championship all the way up to promotion as his attacking brand of football has continued to pay dividends.<\/p>\n

Newcastle meanwhile finished off 2022 on an unbelievable run of their own, ranking as the EPL\u2019s 4th best team overall over the back half of the season, and will be optimistic they can carry that momentum over into the start of this season as well with solid signings in the form of Sven Botman and Nick Pope arriving in the summer.<\/p>\n

Forest have won three of the last four head-to-heads against Newcastle (one was in extra-time) across both League Cup and Championship competition, however, Forest haven’t won in St. James\u2019 Park going all the way back to 1988.<\/p>\n

Forest Busy in the Summer<\/h3>\n

There aren\u2019t many teams in English football with a more storied history than Nottingham Forest, being one of only two English teams ever to win back-to-back European Cups and are officially the oldest team playing in the Premier League this season with an 1865 start date (a claim disputed by Crystal Palace).<\/p>\n

That rich history hasn\u2019t blinded Steve Cooper to the huge task awaiting him ahead of this season however as the Welshman has brought in twelve new additions to the City Ground over the off-season to bolster his squad.<\/p>\n

Slow and Steady for Newcastle<\/h3>\n

While the richest club in world football remain optimistic about the season ahead, they\u2019ve nonetheless been careful with their spending so far as they try and build a team from the ground up.<\/p>\n

An upgrade on defense with both Botman and Pope coming into the club will no doubt improve a backline that was already performing to a high standard last year, with Newcastle owning the league\u2019s 4th best defensive xGA overall along with under 2.5 goals cashing in seven of their last ten in St. James\u2019 Park as well.<\/p>\n

Newcastle vs Nottingham Forest Prediction<\/h2>\n

Despite Newcastle finishing off the season on such a strong run of form last year, I like the value on Nottingham Forest +1 on Saturday at odds of -148 in this one.<\/p>\n

While Forest were plying their trade in the Championship last year, what they were able to accomplish was still nonetheless incredibly impressive and they should enter Saturday’s game full of confidence after such a standout season.<\/p>\n

Nottingham Forest have also been excellent away from home of late as well, losing just twice over their last eleven games outside of the City Ground and they’ll provide a stern test for Newcastle here.<\/p>\n

Picking up Forest with a full goal headstart simply looks too good to pass up this weekend, so we’re taking Nottingham Forest +1 (-148) to cover on the road against Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday.<\/p>\n
