MLB Player Props Today for Thursday: Brandon Nimmo, Mets OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-115)

Despite falling short of this line in three straight games,Brandon Nimmo has recorded 2+ HRR in 9 of his last 15 games (60%).

Nimmo has also dominated his batter vs pitcher matchup with Spencer Strider, going 8-16 (.500) with two home runs and five RBI.

Strider has struggled to be effective in his return from missing the majority of 2024 after elbow surgery. He did just record 13 strikeouts across six scoreless innings in his last outing, but it was against a Colorado Rockies lineup that really struggles to hit on the road.

Strider will now have to deal with a Mets lineup that has smashed right-handed pitching, ranking 3rd in wRC+ and 1st in ISO during the last 30 days.

Nimmo is projected to bat in great position in the two-hole, batting behind Francisco Lindor and in front of Juan Soto & Pete Alonso. He will also be guaranteed a full nine innings of at-bats in a great hitting environment at Truist Park.

MLB Player Props Today for Thursday: Manny Machado OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-115)

I’m really surprised by this line as I expected closer to -150 considering Manny Machado has covered this line in 68% of his games on the season including 11 of his last 15 games (1 in other four games).

I know Yoshinobu Yamamoto is an elite starting pitcher, but he’s struggled recently including his last start against the San Francisco Giants where he allowed 5 earned runs on 6 hits (2HR) and 5 walks across only 4.2 innings pitched.

I’m almost starting to wonder if there is something wrong physically with Yamamoto and Machado has seen him well, going 2-6 with two home runs and four RBI.

Machado isn’t the only hitter to thrive against Yamamoto as current Padres are hitting .417 against him across 36 at-bats. He’s also hit better against right-handed pitching (.322 BA) and on the road (.325) this season.

Machado will be guaranteed a full nine innings of at-bats while playing on the road and he’s had success against the Dodgers bullpen including going 4-8 with a home run against Kirby Yates. I fully expect the Padres to have success against Yamamoto and Machado will be a big part of that.
